Aputure Amaran 150c

The Amaran 150c is what I’m using as the backbone of this “natural sun” setup, and I’ve been maxing it out at 150W through a big softbox to keep the light looking soft and believable. I went for the 150c versions because the price jumps a lot at the 300 level, and I still get the RGB/colour options when I need them.

Pros

+Plenty of output for key/fill in a small studio (150W and I can max it out)
+RGB and adjustable colour temperature for matching scenes
+Bowens mount makes it easy to use softboxes/reflectors
+Comes in a robust case that’s great for protecting the light

Cons

-Not cheap when you start buying multiple units
-May still need extra lights to fully lift darker areas in a scene
