Ever wish you could make an entire safe disappear without actually losing it? That’s exactly what I set out to test with the Hornady SnapSafe in-wall safe. In this video, I walk through what I consider the easiest way to install a wall safe: locate your studs, cut a clean rectangle, slide the safe between standard 16-inch studs, and lock it down with the included lag bolts. If you’re comfortable mounting a TV or swapping an outlet, this install is absolutely in your wheelhouse. I also break down what you’re really getting for the money. The body is 16-gauge steel with an 8-gauge door, a digital keypad with a programmable 4–6 digit code, plus a backup key and low-battery warnings. What surprised me most is the smart latch design that doesn’t eat up interior space, the spring-assist door, reversible door swing, removable shelves, magnetic hooks, and even a magnetic document holder. My main takeaway: this isn’t a “bank vault” replacement for hardcore theft/fire protection—but for convenience and concealment in dead wall space, it checks a lot of boxes at around $240 for the standard model.
