RME ADI2

The RME ADI-2 (in my case the ADI-2 FS R Black Edition) is the reason I could ditch software calibration and keep everything hardware-side. I loaded the X1’s calibration manually and added my usual bass lift, and it gave me crossfeed/EQ control in a way that felt cleaner and more “real” than relying on a plugin chain.

Pros

  • +Hardware parametric EQ and workflow that avoids software-based calibration
  • +Great control for calibration files, bass shelves, and crossfeed-style monitoring
  • +High-end, studio-friendly DAC/amp solution

Cons

  • -Expensive compared to budget DAC/amps
  • -Requires setup time/knowledge to get the most out of EQ and calibration
