Baby Ram Monitor Controller

I use a Heritage Audio Baby RAM as my monitor controller, mainly for things like dim/mono/mute and general control. The DX5II can handle a lot of what this does, especially output switching, so it reduces the need for a big controller on the desk. But the Baby RAM still has a couple of workflow buttons the DX5II doesn’t fully replace for me.

Pros

  • +Dedicated monitor controller workflow (mute/dim/mono depending on setup)
  • +Multiple monitor and input management

Cons

  • -Another box on the desk if the DX5II already covers your switching needs
  • -Can be redundant if you mainly need AB speaker output switching
