This link covers the Audio-Technica Kurugaki (ATH-AWKG), the limited edition wooden closed-back I tried at High End Asia. My takeaway: it’s smooth, tight on the low end, and fast on transients, but it’s not as forward in the mids (around 3–5k) as I personally like for monitoring.

Pros

+Tight low end with good energy
+Fast transient attacks
+Smooth, high-end “lux” presentation

Cons

-Mids weren’t as forward as my preference for critical work
-Show-floor audition conditions can limit accurate impressions
