Audio Technica

The ATH-ADX7000 is one of the most open-sounding open-backs I’ve ever tried, and it’s so light it basically disappears on my head. Sonically it’s neutral and organic with velour, then more intimate and more analytical with velvet—so I can actually tailor it for studio work. It also gives me that refined “slam” in the low end without getting overbearing, and for me it doesn’t need EQ for critical mixing.

Pros

  • +Extremely open, immersive presentation that still stays clear
  • +Lightweight and comfortable for long sessions
  • +Refined, punchy low end with strong transient detail
  • +Works well for critical mixing/mastering with little to no EQ
  • +Pad options meaningfully change the presentation (neutral vs more analytical)

Cons

  • -Stock cable is microphonic (you can hear it rubbing on clothing/chair)
  • -Very expensive new

What Project Beats // Joven says

Audio Technica sent in their latest flagship open back headphones for me to try and it seriously made me consider selling all my other headphones
Also, big thanks to Audio Technica SEA for loaning me the new flagship ATTH ADX7000
The craftsmanship that people of Audio Technica Japan put into creating such a remarkable headphone is really impressive
So, that's my take on the Audio Technica ADX7000
