Sharpening a Knife and making sure the blade is clean from rust and grime is essential when not only expecting the best performance out of your knives, but also when talking about knife safety. A dull knife is a dangerous knife, after all... Still, though, tool maintenance and upkeep isn't the most glamorous of tasks you'll undertake. If you're a professional craftsman who works with your hands, a hobbyist with more tools than time, or a novice with a work bucket, there will come a time when you'll need to clean and polish your gear. Today I'm showing you my simple process for cleaning, refurbishing and sharpening my Bushcraft Knife, The Wanderer. There is certainly no one way to properly sharpen a knife, this is simply my personal knife sharpening technique. It works for me, and I could not be more pleased with the results I achieve.
