Everywhere you turn, there’s Druski. He’s in your social media feeds, playing a risqué viral character. He’s in that T-Mobile Super Bowl commercial, alongside the Backstreet Boys. He’s on Youtube, hosting his “Coulda Been Records” and “Coulda Been Love” parodies of classic reality TV. “I just be wanting to achieve so much that it’s hard to stop,” Druski told Popcast’s Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli of The New York Times. But that ubiquity is also tiring: “After this year, man, I don’t even know if I’ll be at a Super Bowl or an All-Star Game. They had us everywhere.” In what might be Druski’s most revealing (and even, at times, serious) interview yet, the comedian tells us about his collaborations with Justin Bieber and Timothée Chalamet (including his dream movie with Chalamet); walking the line between unfiltered comedy and corporate America; and his future goals in Hollywood. 2:10 Coulda Been Love, Coulda Been Records and reality TV inspiration 5:00 Casting his shows 8:34 How Druski's upbringing around Atlanta helped hone his voice 14:54 Early comedic influences 18:59 How Druski gets away with being in every market all at once 22:30 Learning to code-switch, “white classics” from camp and why racial comedy is back 29:31 Reinvesting money back into content and getting early rejections from Hollywood 35:31 What he’s learned from Kai Cenat and other collaborators 38:24 Working with Bieber on “SWAG” 41:40 Working with Timothée Chalamet + possible future collaborations 44:17 Hollywood ambitions, overexposure, and saying no to certain opportunities 51:35 Being wrongfully accused in a Sean “Diddy” Combs lawsuit 54:54 Druski on whether his comedy “punches down” 58:58 Filming the “Churchill Downs” video with Drake and Jack Harlow 1:00:53 How many pairs of Birkenstocks does Druski really own? 1:01:42 Popcast Lightning round 1:06:17 Snack time!
