I use the Syntech Bluetooth Transmitter to finally ditch airline headphones and run my own AirPods or Sony headset on any in-flight entertainment system with a headphone jack. The screen makes pairing and switching devices ridiculously easy, and it even remembers multiple headsets so I’m not re-doing setup every trip. For the price (about half of an AirFly Pro), it’s a no-brainer travel tech upgrade for frequent flyers.

Pros

  • +Works with IFE systems via 3.5mm jack, including airline multi-prong jacks with the included adapter
  • +Built-in screen makes pairing/status much easier than LED-only transmitters
  • +Can connect up to two Bluetooth headphones at the same time
  • +Stores pairing info for multiple headphones and reconnects automatically
  • +Has a volume control knob
  • +Great value compared to AirFly Pro (about half the price)

Cons

  • -Slightly higher latency than AirFly Pro in my testing
  • -AirPods may try to reconnect to nearby Apple devices unless you disable Bluetooth on them
