All right, knights—this one is the 2nd Battle for Osgiliath in our Dawnless Days head-to-head campaign: Mordor (me) vs Gondor (Jackie Fish). Boromir is under siege, and the whole episode is basically that brutal Middle-earth question: do you run, or do you stand and fight while the hordes of Mordor keep crawling back out of the mud? I’m talking wargs, Morgul Guard, pikes, archers trying to actually trade into Gondor bows, and me trying to delete Boromir like he’s just another unit… except he’s Boromir, so it’s never that simple. On the field, I’m playing it like Mordor should: wear-and-tear, battle of attrition, and I don’t care if the orcs are scum—throw them in. I test archer positioning, use pikes to chew up elite cav, and try to force bad fights by making Jackie commit his Prince Guards and Boromir into the grinder. The big takeaway is the “assembly line” plan: keep recruiting and feeding fresh stacks so even if I lose a battle, another Nazgûl-led force replaces it immediately. Also: night battles and reinforcement rules in this mod are goofy, and it genuinely changes how you have to plan every single turn.
