Loose Leash Walking: Finishing Touches (3/3)

As our dogs begin to do well with leash manners we can taper off reinforcement and begin to use non-food reinforcers like sniffing as a way to reward our dog. We still want to make sure that we increase the rate of reinforcement (or how often we are clicking and treating) around distractions to continue to remind our dogs that attention to us is better. In low distraction areas, you can begin to increase the number of steps between each click and treat and reward the behavior with praise and "Go Sniff!".
