Event Highlights from Lagos Private Wealth 2024

HNW Advisor, in partnership with W8 Advisory, brought its first live event to West Africa on Monday, 10 June 2024, at the Metropolitan Club in Victoria Island, Nigeria, presented an extensive program centred around wealth management. The inaugural event was a joint concept designed to connect clients and professional intermediaries, both within and beyond the private wealth sector, providing an avenue for attendees to build a client base following successful networking with in-country professionals including amongst others - law firms, asset managers, banks, family office managers and accountants. Gbenga Oyebode, Founder of Aluko & Oyebode, delivered a keynote speech on wealth preservation strategies, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Nkontchou and featuring experts from Aluko & Oyebode, Appleby, FBNQuest Trustees, Mercer, and IQEQ. Post the Q&A session, Timothy Faries, CEO of Appleby Global Services, addressed the audience in a plenary session. The second panel, led by Vikash Gupta of VAR Capital, examined global investment trends with insights from First Rock Private Equity, Liberty Group, Aluko & Oyebode, and FBNQuest Asset Management. After a Q&A and lunch break, the third panel, presented by Ugoma Ebilah of Bloom Art, explored art and collectibles as investment opportunities. This was followed by a discussion on digital transformation in wealth management, moderated by Rahul Ahuja of Wealth 8, and included speakers from W8 Advisory, VAR Capital, FBNQuest Asset Management, and GENEA Family Office. The concluding sessions delved into tax efficiency strategies, with Femi Wright of WYZE leading a discussion featuring representatives from Mercer and Aluko & Oyebode. Another panel on purposeful wealth, moderated by Nkontchou, included voices from the African Philanthropy Forum, Teach for Nigeria, and WARIF. The event wrapped up with closing remarks, a networking reception, and a conference dinner at Miliki Club & Lounge.
