It's another day in Paddington, and unwelcome news comes in to Graeme in the station's Control Room. A track circuit failure has been detected at Platform Five and instructions from the Signalling Centre are to close it. Platform 5 is an important access point to the numerous High-Speed trains nipping in and out of the station every few minutes, and the longer it is out of action, the greater the knock-on effect will be. As the hours pass, the pressure is on the Track Response team to fix the problem. It's a busy evening for British Transport Police, who are out in force as crowds of football fans pass through Paddington.
