The SteriPEN Ultra is a UV water purifier I’d keep for situations where viruses are a real concern, because UV can kill viruses that typical hollow-fiber filters don’t handle. I used it on super dirty water (not my usual choice), pre-filtered for particles, then swirled it for 90 seconds. I rated it 8/10—overkill for most hikes, but a solid tool for the right places.
