This is the ENGWE E26 fat tire e-bike I reviewed after 500 km+ of real riding on paved roads, potholes, gravel, and light trails. Overall it’s been comfortable and solid, with the main downsides being a few factory setup issues (rattles and sloppy wiring) that I had to fix myself—pretty typical for cheaper e-bikes.

Pros

  • +Very comfortable fat tire ride (wide tires, seat, raised bars, suspension)
  • +Road legal in Italy/EU setup (250W, 25 km/h assist limit)
  • +Hydraulic disc brakes worked well in my use
  • +Good real-world range for the price (about 65 km with 1,700 m gain)
  • +Walk-assist mode is useful for pushing up steep hills

Cons

  • -Factory assembly/adjustments can be sloppy (wiring, derailleur, rattles)
  • -Metal mudguards can be noisy after rain as rocks hit them
  • -No torque sensor (cadence-based assist has a learning curve)
  • -Heavy compared to non-fat-tire bikes
