In this video, I walk you through how to pair your British Gas smart meter with your in-home display (IHD) so you can actually see what you’re using in real time. I start from the basics—getting the IHD powered up properly, making sure it’s fully charged or plugged in, and placing it close to your electricity meter because distance is one of the biggest reasons pairing fails. Once the IHD is on, I show you what to look for in the menu: settings options like “network” or “pairing devices” so the display can start searching for your smart meter. If it doesn’t find the meter right away, I share the quick trick that usually helps—press and hold the pairing button on the electricity meter for about five seconds to make it discoverable. After it connects, you should see your usage data (gas and electricity), but I also mention that syncing can take a few hours sometimes. And if you hit issues, I keep it simple: restart the IHD, move it even closer, or contact British Gas support via phone or live chat for a remote reset if needed.
