Let’s get started! When I was in High School, the biggest challenge for me was History. I took so many classes and exams, but I failed a lot. I didn’t know how to remember so many names, times, so many complicated lands and policies. I was so frustrated. So I thought there’s no way for me to pass those exams, but one day, I met a new teacher and she changed my life, because she was so great at telling stories. In her class, you will feel like you are watching a show, because she will bring some props, she would do some performance, show some pictures or videos. So she will make the history come to life, and make it vivid. At that time, I realized the power of story-telling. When you are telling a story, you are painting a picture into your students’ mind. That actually helps them memorize more. Also at the same time, when you are telling a story, you are giving away the context. We memorize more when we have a context. That’s why when you go to a theatre to watch a movie, you will remember the themes even after a few months. But sometimes, if you remember a phone number, you will forget it after a few hours. That’s because in the video, you will have full context. So in this lesson, I wanted to tell you how to tell a great story so your students will remember more. That’s it for this video.
