Is This the Best Small Property Upgrade for Deer Hunting?

I wanted to test something on a small hunting property that most people overlook… water. On just 5 acres, I brought in a mini excavator and dug a brand new waterhole in a strategic location to see if I could influence deer movement and improve the overall value of the property for hunting. Small properties can be tough. You don’t have room for mistakes, and every improvement has to actually matter. So the goal with this project was simple: create a reliable water source and see if it becomes a key piece of the property’s deer movement pattern. In this video, I walk through the entire process—from choosing the location, digging with the mini excavator, shaping the basin, and thinking through how deer might actually use it once it’s finished. Will this turn into a consistent deer hub? Or is water not enough on a pressured 5-acre property? We’ll find out.
