Local filmmaker Tara Leuvina Smith is shining a spotlight on Guyana's national flower, the Victoria Amazonica, through a new documentary called Paimîye. Produced in partnership with the Rupununi's Karanambu Lodge, the documentary reveals that the Amazonica is far more than a beautiful flower — it quietly sustains life and stands as a poignant reminder of the need to protect biodiversity amid rapid development across the country. The film premiered last weekend in Georgetown.
