GUYANESE BUILDING BIGGER, MOVING BEYOND GEORGETOWN - AS OIL BOOM FUELS HOUSING SHIFT

Guyana's oil wealth is reshaping more than just the economy. Housing Minister Collin Croal says higher incomes driven by the oil and gas sector are allowing more Guyanese to secure larger mortgages, build bigger homes and move into new housing developments outside Georgetown. As demand surges along the East Coast and East Bank corridors, the government is also seeing growing interest in turnkey homes, while a construction labour shortage emerges as one of the biggest challenges of the country's rapid expansion.
