Travelling between Guyana and major destinations in South America remains a lengthy and expensive undertaking, often requiring multiple connections despite the countries sharing the same continent. But comments from the head of Latin America's largest airline are offering fresh insight into the future of regional air travel. Speaking at the International Air Transport Association's Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, LATAM CEO Roberto Alvo said the airline sees significant opportunities for further expansion in the Caribbean, a region it has been steadily growing into for more than a decade. While no new routes were announced, the remarks are likely to renew interest in whether Guyana could eventually secure stronger direct links to key South American markets, including Brazil.
