UNEDITED Episode 11: The Unicorn Year No One Talks About Anymore 2020 was the unicorn year. Etsy sellers went from making hundreds to ten, fifteen thousand dollars a month. Everyone stuck at home, shopping online nonstop. It felt like magic. But they didn’t build systems. They didn’t capture emails. They didn’t create sustainability. Fast forward to 2026? Those same sellers are barely making $100 a month. Some months, zero. The unicorn year is over. And now I’m watching the desperate scramble - Etsy sellers pivoting to digital products, looking for anything to supplement their income because they need it fast. I’ve been saying this for years: you can’t build your entire business on one platform you don’t control. You have to have systems. You have to diversify before you’re forced to.
