Will I Succeed or Fail at repairing my Champion 27 Ton Log Splitter? If you have watched the last couple videos you will know that my champion log splitter has been giving me problems. So in this video i show you how to replace the carburetor on the Champion 27 ton log splitter. Now I am by no means a proffesional at this and I am far from a small engines mechanic, But i do have a little bit of knowledge on small engines. Enough to do some small, easy repairs. I would rate this repair a 3 out of 5 stars. I think anyone can change a Carburetor on this machine, you just have to take your time and remember how it goes back together. More on the log splitter repair, So i could not get it to start, after trying a few things, like, replacing the spark plug, cleaning the air filter, emptying the old gas and putting in new, I realized it had to be the carburetor. We always have limited time on foggy ridge farm so i decided to tke it to a small engine repair place, thinking it would be ready when we got back to the farm. The small engine mechanic called me 2 days later saying that he got it running and If i wanted it back soon that i needed to get it in the next two days. When I get there to pick it up I was informed it would run but at half choke. And it did. we used it for a few hours that day, but in the end, we decided to replace the carburetor. Taking it the small engine repair place cost me 75.00 to half fix the problem. Replacing the carburetor cost me 22.00 and 30 minutes time. SHould have just replaced it to begin with.
