A year ago, I stopped taking the contraceptive pill, which I had used mainly to manage my endometriosis, and without realising it, I plunged directly into perimenopause. Despite numerous visits to doctors and healthcare professionals, my condition remained a mystery to me, with my symptoms worsening without explanation. The medical practitioners did not acknowledge the phase my body was undergoing and did not inform me beforehand that, at 45, entering perimenopause was a completely natural process. It was only after conducting thorough personal research, including reading and evaluating medical symptoms, that I discovered I was going through perimenopause, a diagnosis my doctors now concur with. It has been a challenging journey to understand my health situation largely on my own, but I am now committed to assisting other women in recognising signs of perimenopause.
