With winter storms on the horizon, Nelson brings his 3.5-ton excavator back to reshape the land, rebuild eroded ramps, clear out clogged drainage tubes, and carve new channels so rainwater flows safely away from the mill. What would take us days with shovels, he completes in hours, transforming unusable corners of our property into functional and beautiful spaces once again. And for the first time in a long time, we get a peaceful morning with no crews onsite. So we head to one of our favorite antique markets on Portugal’s south coast to hunt for sinks, countertops, and unique pieces for the turret bathroom.
