With our plastering team applying the final coat, the old stone walls are finally protected, clean lines emerge, and the mill begins to bridge the old with the new in a way we’ve been dreaming of for years! Outside, Nelson returns with his excavator to complete critical infrastructure projects — burying electrical and irrigation lines, reshaping terraces, repairing erosion, and creating proper drainage so water flows safely away from the house and back to the stream. These behind-the-scenes projects may not be glamorous, but they’re essential to protecting a historic stone home for the long term. Inside, carpentry continues as custom wood stairs and turret details take shape, while we think carefully about humidity control, airflow, and healthy living inside a 100-year-old structure. Between plastering, trenching, grading, and problem-solving, we pause to reflect on how far we’ve come — and how, for the first time, this place truly feels like home.
