From building custom oak frames and sealing them with fireproof insulation, to carefully fitting the double-paned glass, this step makes the mill feel cozy and protected like never before. Inside the turret bathroom and throughout the bedrooms, we finally have light, views, and windows we can open — small details that feel life-changing after years of raw construction. But the adventure doesn’t stop there. We also set up our first movie night in the mill with the help of Bluetti’s off-grid power and an incredible AWOL floor-rising projector. A magical evening that truly felt like a new chapter. Of course, life in the Portuguese mountains is full of surprises — and just as we were celebrating, our neighbors spotted smoke. Within moments, helicopters and firefighters were on the scene battling a wildfire dangerously close to our land. We’re deeply grateful for their bravery and for the fire safety systems we’ve been working hard to install around the mill.
