The built in flash on cameras is often much maligned, and frequently dismissed as producing harsh results, limited use, and snapshot type images. However there are a number of obvious advantages too with a flash, that comes already in the camera. In this short, "it get's on with it" video, I show 3 practical ways you can use a built in flash to improve your photography. You have a useful fill flash option (and in daylight), which doesn't have to look like a harsh flash was used. You can also use it for off camera wireless flash without any additional cost of a trigger, or another item to carry. It's always there, you can't forget it as you carry it around all the time! Some modern marketing tries to suggest a flash isn't useful to have built in, and that a camera has better weather sealing. It might be true for the sealing, however it also robs you of a useful additional tool, which is already in the camera, and can quickly be used when needed. I've never had a problem with any cameras with a built in flash, in terms of weather related problems. My own feelings are that many models don't have a flash, mostly to save money with manufacturing. There are quite a few cameras with a built in flash, including pro level bodies like the Nikon D800 or D810, many bodies previously also had it D700, D200, D300, as well as lower end Canon DSLR's like the 7D, 7D MkII, 80D, 90D etc. Sony also has some on some of their DSLR/SLT models like the A77, A700, and entry one like the A100, 200, 350. Over time the trend changed, with newer models removing the flash, and this spilled over into many mirrorless cameras too.
