I have been wanting to make one of these caps for years, but felt very intimidated by the center embroidery. I am so glad I finally sat down and took the time to figure it out, totally worth it! If you also want to try the herringbone insertion stitch, I recommend checking out my previous video showing how to do a basic/simple version of the stitch: https://youtu.be/IyFQgEaaI14 Also, I am just now realizing that I never even mentioned the simple band embroidery! I never intended to do it, but the book (link below) has instructions on how to do it for anyone interested. Read all about the St. Birgitta Cap and it's fancy (3 row!) insertion stitch in Dahl & Sturtewagen's article, The Cap of St. Birgitta, in Medieval Clothing and Textiles 4, pages 99-129. (Affiliate link: https://amzn.to/2IyTazj) The images I used were mostly from the The Maciejowski (Morgan) Bible, and there's more on Larsdatter (great website!): http://www.larsdatter.com/birgitta-caps.htm Linen fabric I used is from https://fabrics-store.com/fabrics/linen-fabric-IL019-bleached-middle/ ★Follow me! ★ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/MorganDonner Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/MorganDonnersParty Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MorganDonnersSewing Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/morgandonner/ My (mostly) Costuming blog: http://www.MorganDonner.com MUSIC: "Dark Hallway - Distressed" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) "Fig Leaf Rag - Distressed" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) "Fretless" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) "On My Way" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) "Cryptic Sorrow" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ PO Box 25695 Seattle, WA, 98165
