You guys have been asking for this one for ages, so I finally sat down and filmed my Advent Awards for 2025 — my little round-up of the good, the bad, and the ugly from the calendars I actually unboxed. This year I unboxed 37 advent calendars (compared to 45 in 2024), and I’m breaking everything down across 14 categories, from best value and worst value to most full sizes, most improved, most exciting, most boring, best design, most reusable, and even the cheapest and most expensive. I go off the numbers where it makes sense (price vs value, full-size counts), but I’m always honest that “best” only matters if you’ll actually use what’s inside. For best value, Avant takes it again purely on stats (you’re paying around 10.5% of the stated value), but if you’re not an Avant fan, Glossybox is a great shout too. I also call out the calendars that let me down this year (Vogue was my biggest disappointment compared to previous years), and the ones that really surprised me — like YSL being the most improved thanks to the chest design and a better product lineup. And for the overall winner of 2025? Selfridges. It was so exciting to unbox, had loads of full sizes (even in the double and triple doors), introduced genuinely new brands, and it felt much more well-rounded with more makeup than the usual skincare-heavy vibe.
