Topexplore 9.26” Carplay screen

This is the Topexplore 9.26” CarPlay/Android Auto screen I tested in my 2015 Rubicon as a cheaper alternative to a full in-dash head unit install. After a few weeks, it did exactly what I bought it for—wireless Android Auto and a backup camera—without spending $500+ at Best Buy. It’s not as clean-looking as an in-dash setup, but for around $90 it’s a ridiculous value.

Pros

  • +Around $90 and replaces the main features of a much more expensive head unit setup
  • +Wireless Android Auto connects automatically after startup
  • +Includes backup camera with a long cable (worked fine for my Jeep)
  • +Kept my steering wheel controls working without extra wiring modules
  • +Stable mount during my testing, even extended

Cons

  • -Backup camera wiring to the reverse wire can be tricky without a multimeter
  • -Dash cam placement is basically useless with my windshield mount position
  • -Touchscreen could be more sensitive (sometimes needs a second press)
  • -Not as clean as an in-dash install—visible wires and it can block some view
