🥺 At the funeral of my father, a childhood friend said, “Welcome to the orphan club.” An obvious truth, but a view I had not yet recognized. After losing both of my parents—and after attending the funeral of another dear friend’s mother this week—I was reminded of how profound this transition really is. Even when our parents are no longer supporting us in practical ways, just knowing they are there can feel like a layer of security we barely notice…until it’s gone. Now YOU are the safety net.
