Location: Stony Creek Backwash Robert is an urban planner and post-doctoral research fellow in the Emerging Technologies Research Lab at Monash University. His work examines what it is like to live in cities now and in the future, drawing particular attention to the contested nature of urban public space. By tracing the different sites that people experience as public space he explores where and how those spaces emerge as people go about their lives, as well as the possible futures that unfold as those lives are lived. In support of this, his practice draws on visual and embodied ethnographic techniques that allow him to work with people to explore how they experience the urban landscape, and how they imagine experiencing those landscapes in the future. His work takes place on unceded Bunurong and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung land. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This video is included in the exhibition 'Exterior Monologue', curated by Olivia O'Donnell and Virginia Overell as part of the 2024 MSD x Melbourne Design Week program.
