As the urgency of climate action intensifies, this workshop presents the release of the Reduction Roadmap for Australia. Following the methodology of the Danish Reduction Roadmap, this Australian adaptation provides science-based targets to drive the built environment sector towards drastic emissions reduction and alignment with the Paris Agreement. Led by Prof Dan Hill and Dr James Helal, this interactive session guides participants through the methodology and application of the Reduction Roadmap, detailing how it translates global and national carbon budgets into industry-specific targets. We explore strategies for reducing embodied and operational emissions in Australian housing and discuss policy and regulatory frameworks that are needed to support this transformation. Participants engage in collaborative exercises aimed at developing actionable plans for implementing the Reduction Roadmap in their own work, with opportunities to network and build partnerships for sector-wide impact. This symposium was partially funded by the Australian Government through the Australian Research Council's Discovery Projects funding scheme (project DP200101378). Presented by the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, University of Melbourne.
