Royal Park at Dusk - Keren Maina

The Grassland Circle at Royal Park is a moving and magnificent landscape. Focusing on the various scales, texture, uses and sounds, this video highlights the spaces’ versatility and beauty. The grassland circle allows you to stand out, yet blend in.The space is vast, yet intimate. The path is formal, yet many more are formed informally. Your eyes are drawn into the park, yet the simple lines frame the dusk sky and the city view. When you are here, you are alone and at the same time, outnumbered. Location: Royal Park, Grassland Circle Keren Maina is a student of landscape architecture and urban planning at the University of Melbourne. Originally from Kenya, she currently works in the field of landscape architecture on the lands of the Kulin Nations. She is passionate about African culture’s influence on contemporary design and decolonization of design education and practice on the African continent. She has a deep interest and love of collage as a medium of art and representation. Keren also runs Urbanism Rising, a social media platform dedicated to helping African urbanists find international opportunities in design and beyond.
