Millie Cattlin, co-founder of These Are The Projects We Do Together, a social design practice stretching the bounds between architecture, design, education, maintenance, caretaking, operations, creative programming and open access. Millie, and co-founder Joe Norster, created Testing Grounds, the brilliant public space, public art ‘happening’ out the back of the Arts Centre. A project that involved hundreds of people, and an incredible commitment and occupation of space over a long duration. This approach to space is now in the Vic Markets, and through the Quarry project, in the Otway Ranges, which they purchased as a large-scale multi-generational research, art, design and education site. Millie’s work is social, spatial, relational, ecological, architectural. This talk was part of the ‘Removing Barriers, Beyond the Classroom’ series, for the students of Architecture Design Thesis at Melbourne School of Design. This series is intended to point toward life after uni, by introducing students to inspiring thinkers and do-ers who are working in different ways.
