At the end of our street, at the bottom of the hill, is a narrow concrete footbridge. The bridge spans the Moonee Ponds Creek and Citylink Tollroad. In the classic 1984 neo-Western ‘Paris, Texas’ (Wim Wenders) the character of Travis, (Harry Stanton) crosses a footbridge above the LA traffic-scape while an unnamed character (Tom Farrell) delivers a disjointed soliloquy to the cars passing below. This film scene and this type of landscape are forever fused in my imagination, almost a synesthesia of film and landscape. Dean is an Artist who works on site-specific projects.
