In this video, I’m breaking down OpenAI Codex for beginners—especially now that it’s finally available on Windows. I walk you through the different ways you can use Codex: as a standalone app, inside your terminal, or directly inside your IDE (I show it in VS Code). The goal is simple: install → launch → start building, without overcomplicating the setup. I also show what the Codex workflow looks like in practice: projects (basically folders/workspaces), sessions/threads, attaching files for context, choosing speed modes, selecting Codex models, and tuning reasoning levels. One feature I genuinely like is the “skills” system—especially for .NET and Windows-based development—because most agents default to Node/Python. I demo opening an agent-generated .NET-style codebase in VS Code, and I also show how Codex can audit an existing repo for security issues (AI auditing AI is kind of wild). My take: don’t obsess over “Codex vs Claude vs anti-gravity.” Any good coding agent becomes gold if you understand software fundamentals and you know how to prompt with real engineering structure. I’ll be experimenting more and building a full-stack app next before giving a deeper review.
