Brittni McCann's skateboarding highlights from 2022! These are the tricks I learned, and my year of progression. 2022 was a great year. Excited for next year! #SkateboardingProgression #SkateboardingHighlights #GirlSkateboarder ____________________________________ Story time: Skateboarding 2022 was very different this year. It came alive to me in a way it never had before. I fell in love with the sport all over again and pushed myself to land tricks I never thought I would be able to. I was watching a documentary on Andrew Reynolds for the second time, and something he said stuck out to me more than it did the first time I watched it. He said he skated his best when his life was most chaotic. He quoted “I think it’s the reason people pay money to learn how to meditate and do yoga to quiet their mind, you know? I think that’s why when skaters don’t skate for a couple of weeks are like, “Ahh, I gotta get out and do something!” because you’re so used to that feeling and escape your whole life. You need it.” This year, skateboarding was that meditation for me. My life was extremely chaotic in the beginning of the year, and I just soaked up every single chance I could get on my board to clear my mind. Reynolds also quotes “A clear mind is only really where you can focus and do a good job at things.” When I was on my board this year, I learned how to really clear my mind. Nothing else mattered but the trick I was trying, the way I felt skating, and the music I was listening to. I tuned everything else around me out. When I look at a lot of these clips from the beginning of this year, I can remember how crazy my life was outside of each clip.
