Indigenous Health Topics (IHT) is dedicated to featuring speakers who are recognized experts in health, education, and research—locally, regionally, and nationally. Presentations center on issues that significantly affect American Indian and Alaska Native communities. In this session, Christine Lastra, a member of the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona, discussed her journey with breast cancer. She addressed a variety of experiences that encompassed navigating cancer, including diagnosis, family, treatment, and going to Mayo Clinic and the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
