🇮🇶 Visiting Iraq's Mesopotamian Marshes: https://youtu.be/Byit1RBFoVY 👉 SUBSCRIBE for more: https://www.youtube.com/@MarkWiensAbroad Today we’re exploring Najaf, the holiest city in Iraq, home to the unbelievable Imam Ali Holy Shrine. We’ll try the local Najaf Iraqi cuisine and visit the most important sights you have to see. Great Ziggurat of Ur - But first, we’re starting today at the Great Ziggurat of Ur, one of the most ancient cities in Mesopotamia. Mohammed Al-Khafaji Restaurant - As soon as we arrived to Najaf we headed straight to lunch to eat a dish called Qeema Najafia. And qeema, or queema is a dish of lamb and chickpeas with spices made into a sauce and served with rice. Wadi-us-Salaam - Najaf is home to the World’s Largest Cemetery, so we drove through it on our way to the shrine. Imam Ali Holy Shrine - But the real highlight was having a chance to visit Imam Ali Holy Shrine one of the holiest sites in Shia Islam, and it was breathtaking. Thabit Restaurant - For dinner I couldn’t wait to try the legendary Iraqi white kebabs of Najaf! A huge thank you to Ahmed and Aya from https://enliltravels.com/ for arranging my trip to Iraq.
