And today we’re going to the best NYC deli in Houston, one of the best in the USA, Kenny & Ziggy's New York Delicatessen! First I met up with owner Ziggy Gruber, who comes from a long lineage of deli specialists and who starred in the Deli Man documentary. He showed me around the kitchen, a little tour of the amazing deli products and cured meats available. Then we checked out the pastrami that takes over three days to make, the real deal way. Along with classic NYC deli sandwiches, Kenny & Ziggy's has one of the biggest menus I’ve ever seen at any restaurant on earth. We tried a bunch of other family classic dishes from matzo ball soup to Hungarian steak and cabbage rolls, all of which were fantastic. But nothing will prepare you for The Zellagabetsky an 8 layer pastrami and every other meat sandwich with dressing, cheese, and coleslaw all within rye bread, it’s a sight to behold.
