Michael had been here before and said the food is really good, really fresh, and locals from Xi’an will happily drive 2 - 3 hours for this fresh countryside Chinese meal. So we drove through the beautiful mountains to get there, and stopped a few times along the way to admire the scenery. When we arrived there was already a group from Xi’an, hanging out and enjoying nature, drinking tea and playing mahjong. The menu is seasonal and regional, different from anywhere else. But one of my favorite meals in China are the farm houses where you can have an extremely fresh meal all with locally grown and sourced ingredients. Their most famous dish is a whole rooster, braised in spices. It was fantastic and loaded with flavor. Fresh cooking, fresh and local ingredients, is what makes Chinese food the best!
