Tandur Restaurant - First we drove high in the mountains, overlooking the valley where a family cooks some of the best bread ever in a wood burning tandur oven. The surprising way they eat fish is with tarator, a sauce made from tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. Total price - 500,00 SYP ($33.33) for everything Home cooking - We continued to Latakia, a major Syrian city on the Mediterranean Sea, where we were invited by an amazing family for a local Syrian food meal including kibbeh Kbeibat - stuffed bulgur, yalanji - grape leaves, and bulgur bandora - bulgur with eggplant. George’s Candy Shop - In Latakia you’ll find the legendary George’s Candy Shop! Kunafa Al Fawal - Finally to finish this amazing day of Syrian food we stopped to eat the legendary kunafa, one of the world’s best desserts, at Kunafa Al Fawal - it didn’t disappoint!
