In this video I do a little something different in the shop: I install Pure Vintage Fender tilt-back support legs on my Fender Rumble 500 bass combo. The whole goal is simple—at some venues I want the amp to act more like a wedge monitor so I can actually hear myself when I’m standing close to it. I walk through how I find a safe tilt angle (about 35 degrees), mock it up with scrap 2x6 blocks, and then figure out the best mounting location so the legs clear the corner hardware and existing screws. Once I start test-fitting, I hit a real-world snag: the ideal bolt location lines up with an internal plywood brace. That means the supplied bolts aren’t going to work there, so I switch to a coarse-thread screw from my stash and make sure it bites properly with a careful pilot hole. While I’ve got the cabinet open, I also take the opportunity to tighten up loose speaker and horn screws—six or seven years of playing bass will do that. After installing the stops, the legs swing out cleanly, the amp tilts back securely, and if I ever want a different angle I can just move the stop. They look great, feel like proper Fender quality, and for me it’s a simple, practical upgrade.
