This dal from the state of Maharashtra is renowned for its soothing and comforting way. I got the method from expert chef Monisha Bhardwaj for you. Some people leave out the cumin but add a bit of jaggery. Monisha says you need to be able to taste the hing or asafoetida, which it certainly did and we loved it! Hope you love it too!
