A simple motion sensor is still the straightforward way to automate lights, and I’ve used sensors like these as the classic “$30 sensor in the corner” solution. In this video I compare that traditional approach to Hue’s MotionAware Areas concept. If you want predictable motion behavior that shows up as a real device in your platform, dedicated sensors are still the reference point.
