Lightweight Knee Pads For Mtb – 7IDP Sam Hill Lite

I'll be sharing my thoughts on the 7idp Sam Hill Lite knee pads, a lighter version of the popular Seven IDP Sam Hill knee pads that I reviewed last year and really enjoyed. The main difference with these Lite pads is that they offer less protection compared to the normal versions, which personally, I'm not a fan of. While the weight reduction is not overly significant (340 grams for the regular ones and 205 grams for the Lite), I believe it's worth sacrificing a bit of extra weight for the added protection. Both designs feature a compression-style fit and silicone strips to ensure they stay in place during your rides. They share the same stability as the original pads, which is definitely a positive aspect. However, given the lightweight nature of the Lite version, I don't find a strong justification for their existence. If I'm already wearing compression-style knee pads, I'd prefer the extra protection of the regular ones. To be clear, the Lite knee pads are not a bad product, but in my opinion, they somewhat overlap with the functionality of their heavier counterparts.
