In this video, we’re looking at off-grid water source redundancy using two practical backup options: rainwater collection barrels and river water harvesting. For any off-grid property, relying on only one water source can be risky. Rainfall can be seasonal, wells can fail, pumps can break, and surface water can become difficult to access or unsafe without proper treatment. Our goal is to build a layered system that gives us more options in dry spells, emergencies, and everyday homestead use. Important note: Rainwater and river water are not automatically safe to drink. The CDC recommends testing and treating rainwater used for drinking, cooking, or bathing, and notes that boiling is one of the best emergency methods for killing germs in water. #OffGridWater #RainwaterHarvesting #OffGridLiving #HomesteadWater #WaterRedundancy
