Embarkation day can feel like it should be the easy part—until it isn’t. In this video, I walk you through the cruise boarding tips I wish every guest heard before they ever step into the terminal. Using our own sailing on Regal Princess out of Port Everglades as the real-world example, I cover the exact places delays and confusion show up: long lines, terminal “surprises,” and the kind of misinformation that can turn a smooth start into a stressful one. The biggest lesson from our boarding day was the UK ETA requirement for cruise passengers. Unlike flying—where a digital passport link often carries the day—cruise terminal teams may need physical proof of your ETA, and they can manually record your ETA reference number and approval date at check-in. We saw passengers (including us) learn this far too late—two hours into the line. My practical takeaway: print it, screenshot it, and keep it with your passport. I also share which lines are already warning guests (like P&O) and why Princess is still catching up—plus what we were told about future notifications after feedback from our sailing.
